The Development team at St. Paul’s Newman Center has an opening for an undergraduate or graduate internship in Fargo, ND. The ideal candidate will start in late May or early June 2026.
St. Paul’s Newman Center serves the students of NDSU as a home away from home during their critical college years. Through the Sacraments, formation, and authentic friendships, the Newman Center seeks to change hearts, change lives, and form future leaders.
Internship Overview: The Development Intern is a full-time, paid internship. This is an opportunity for a student to learn the art and science of development through a Catholic view of philanthropy, while expanding the mission of the Newman Center. The ideal candidate will focus on growing our sustained/monthly giving program, by building relationships with individuals who have the capacity to give anywhere from $50 - $250 a month. This will primarily happen by making phone calls to potential donors, to schedule in-person visits, share the mission, and invite them to partner in this ministry. This position requires someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, this position requires the ability to work as an effective team member who is results oriented.
Responsibilities: Develops and maintains a portfolio of 250 – 500 potential donors. Makes a solicitation to all prospects within the summer. Spends 25-50% of time meeting with donors face to face. Ability to travel locally and regionally is required. Works evenings and weekends as needed. Use of company cars included. Schedules and conducts face-to-face donor visits; 20-30/month. Meets with and reports to the Director of Development weekly. Other duties as assigned by the Development Team.
Summer Goals: Increase monthly support from $600 - $800/month each month. Summer support goal of $2,500/month by 12 weeks of employment.
Salary: Compensation will be at a base pay of $16/hour, with an opportunity for bonuses based on performance.
