This question is asked by everyone at some point in their lives. Thanks to a Newman Center benefactor, we are able to assist students in their search for their vocation. Whether it is marriage, priesthood, religious life, or a single life of service/mission; we want to assist you in discerning God's call in your life.
The Vocation Office of the Diocese of Fargo is sponsoring a Discernment Weekend at Maryvale Convent in Valley City on February 13-15, 2026 for men 16 years and older who are open to a vocation to the priesthood. The weekend will bring together men to pray about their vocations, and join with several priests and seminarians to hear about their call and how they discerned the Lord’s will. This weekend should bring clarity to the often difficult discernment process.
There is no cost for the weekend, but pre-registration is required.
Questions can be directed to Fr. Kyle Metzger at [email protected] or (701) 356-7957, the vocation director for the Diocese of Fargo.
The vocation office organizes a few dinners throughout the fall and winter months for young men who are open to the priesthood. The dinners serve as an opportunity to visit with Bishop Folda and other priests and to ask questions in a relaxed and inviting setting. For young men ages 16-30.
Seats fill up quickly. Contact your pastor or the vocation director if you are interested in attending.
